The House is Packed
"Love is in the house, and the house is packed" - TobyMac
Happy Thanksgiving!!
I'm currently sitting next to Michael who's laugh-yelling at David for stealing his answers in the game "Last Word" (check out the game, it's pretty fun. And chaotic.). The idea is to shout out words in a designated category that starts with a designated letter. An example of this stealing would be: Mike saying "wine", "oats", or "lake", and David immediately following up with "wine opener", "oatmeal", or "Lake Superior". The argument could be made, and IS being made that David isn't being original. David's argument is that he's playing smart. It's a pretty crazy and typical time in the Sigmon dining room. If you've been over for game-night, you know.
Just wanted to "touch base" with everyone. The environment around here this week has been pretty typical. Friends coming and going, lots of family time, lots of love, and lots of Jesus. Although, generally speaking it's a lot quieter than when I used to live here. I guess that's because only 2-3 of mom and dad's 6 kids still live here. That number depends on whether Stephen is out on the ocean, Alaska, or some beautiful random island fulfilling a contract with Disney (he works as a lifeguard for Disney Cruise Line. He has an awesome life. haha).
Anyway, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal with family and friends and then played some games. We hope you all got the opportunity to love on each other as well.
We took tons of pictures, ate tons of food, and talked about plans for tomorrow. Speaking of which, for those who are asking….
Here is the 411 regarding Dad's surgery:
- Surgery is at 12 noon EST.
- Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, VA
- Surgery will take 3-6 hours and then once out of surgery, he will be put in ICU.
- His stay in ICU should last only about 1-2 days, so long as there are no complications.
Here is the 411 regarding visitors:
- While he remains in ICU, visitors aren't allowed other than immediate family.
- Once he moves to the "step down unit" (basically, out of ICU) on Sunday or Monday, visitors will be allowed! We will of course keep you posted!
Lastly, we all want to thank our village for the many prayers, calls, texts, and letters sent. You are such an amazing support system and we all feel so loved. Especially mom and dad.
Thank you to those who have donated to the GoFundMe, or sent financial gifts via other means to support my parents during this season. [Praise God - - We were able to lower the "goal" amount to reflect the support received via other means!!]
Expect another post from me, or one of my siblings (probably me) tomorrow regarding his status. Thank you for following along and caring about dad's heart and our overall well-being. Much, much, much love [more than I can express]
- Rachel
P.S. Meal train info still to come. That's my next "to-do" once we know when dad's coming home!
If you planned to give them a financial gift, that opportunity still remains. Follow the link included here:
Amen on the funds! That’s awesome! Beautiful blessing! Hugs and prayers from us!
